“This past week has been one of the most remarkable of my mission so far! We had the sacred privilege of witnessing a dear friend enter the waters of baptism. The weekend leading up to the service was filled with both work and a bit of stress as we coordinated the details. There was even a moment of nervous anticipation when he was late to church on Sunday; for a second, we weren’t sure if he would make it to his own baptism!
However, he arrived at the chapel dressed in his best and looking happier than I have ever seen him. The service was beautiful and full of the Spirit. It was actually a ‘double’ blessing—because he wasn’t fully immersed the first time, he got to experience the ordinance twice!
His journey to this point has been a true testament to his faith. He has shown an incredible desire to follow Jesus Christ, even in the face of significant opposition. His family is not Christian and has not been supportive of his choice, which has not been easy for him to navigate. Yet, his testimony of the truth remains unshakable. After he was confirmed, he shared with us that he now feels a profound sense of confidence in his identity as a member of the Church.
This day was extra special for our entire branch. It has been a year and a half since we last had a baptism here, so the excitement was felt by every member and, I am certain, by all of heaven. God is mindful of His children in Finland!”
