Honorable Return of Sister Purnell

What was your favorite part of serving a mission?
My favorite part of serving a mission was how I got to know and love those around me in the Savior’s way and found more out about myself as I got lost in the Lord’s work.

What will you miss most about serving a mission, and how would you like to incorporate that into your life after serving a full-time mission?
I will miss my dear friends. I have their contact information, and I will stay in touch with them.

Is there anything you would encourage future missionaries to do to prepare for serving a mission?
Continue developing your own testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ and your charity for others, and pray for that each day. Your own testimony of Jesus Christ is the strongest tool you can use and develop on the mission.

How has serving a mission helped you draw closer to Christ?
How could it not? I learned so much about my purpose: why I am obedient. I learned who Jesus Christ was for me personally because I had to rely on him throughout.

Please share a story that helped to strengthen your testimony of Jesus Christ on the mission.

One story I can think of that is simple enough to share over a message was a time when I developed a better testimony of the priesthood power, and how this Jesus Christ restored this church. I had surgery on my foot during my mission, and it kept me from being able to walk around in a painless manner.
I was able to receive a preisthood blessing from one of the elders, and right after the blessing, according to the words of the blessing and my faith, I was able to get up and move around, and it was not painful anymore. It was unbearable before, and then I was able to get right back to work. I know that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ because I know his power is real. This is His work, and He gives us the strength to do it.
