Missionary Message: Sister Simons shares the Joy of Jesus Christ

Missionary Message:

This week I have been reading in Alma about the Anti-Nephi-Lehies laying down their weapons of war. Ammon came and taught these people, and they became so converted to the Lord that they were willing to lay down their weapons and more fully follow Jesus Christ.

The Lamanites came to fight against them, but they were so moved by the faithfulness of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies that many of them were also converted to the Lord.

I especially loved verses 36–37 in Alma 26:

“Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation, and my redemption from everlasting wo. Yea, blessed is the name of my God, who has been mindful of this people…”

Ammon continues by praising God for being mindful of His people, even those who are “wanderers in a strange land.” He says that God is mindful of every people, no matter what land they may be in, and that His mercies are over all the earth.

As a missionary, I really relate to these verses. We go to strange lands (Pueblo, Colorado, lol) and teach people about Jesus Christ and bring the joy of the gospel into their lives.

It is amazing to see how much people can change when they come unto Christ. There is so much joy in watching someone we are teaching grow, change, and come closer to the Savior. And it truly is all because of the Lord.

I am so beyond grateful to be a part of the Lord’s work. I know He is mindful of His children, wherever they may be, and I am grateful that He allows me to play even a small part in helping others come to know Him.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
